Wow, update.bml. It's been like a year and a half.
I'm sort of at a loss as to what to do with this (or rather, if to do with it). A lot has changed in 10 years, both personally and with the online world. Do we still need LJ, or has its time come and gone? If I wanted a blog, there are plenty of good tools for that kind of thing now that were missing in 1999. As for the rest, Facebook is the network; Twitter's great for narcissism, etc.
Plus, I pissed off a lot of people making a spectacle of myself bitching and moaning about various LiveJournal doom-and-gloom scenarios, and now (lo! behold!) that a lot of that has actually come to pass, we have Dreamwidth.
I admire what D and Mark and everyone are trying to do here, so I hope it takes off for their sake, but it does feel a bit like a stab at "LJ done right" rather than something novel in its own right, and I don't know if that's personally relevant for me.
